Walshaw Lodge is a beautiful historic house on the Pennine Moors that sleeps up to 20. Nestling among the romantic landscape of Emily Brontė's Wuthering Heights in an area of unparalleled beauty, this is the perfect place to escape the strains of every day life. There is excellent walking, birdwatching, orienteering, cycling and water sports, all in the rugged and beautiful settings of the Pennines. From the doorstep of this classic English country house, it is possible to walk in the footsteps of the Brontes, across the Moors to Top Withens, inspiration of the Earnshaw residence in Bronte's famous novel. The surrounding landscape of the wild and windswept Pennine Way will form the perfect backdrop to your walk - a circular 6 mile path which takes in the Bronte Bridge and Brontė Waterfalls in 3 and a half to 4 hours. A local guide can be arranged by the owners, along with a pack lunch. Haworth with its cobbled street and small shops, tea rooms and pubs is perfect for browsing and wandering round. Situated between the town and the moors beyond is the famous Haworth Parsonage, home to the Bronte family in the 19th century and now a museum and study centre, a must see for many visitors. The nearby town of Hebden Bridge is renowned for its artistic community and free-spirited atmosphere, with many specialist shops, restaurants, bars and pubs. It was named the Funkiest place to live in Europe in 2005 and remains a vibrant, fascinating place. Close by this stunning self-catering cottage is the Pennine Way and the beautiful Hardcastle Crags for outdoor pursuits such as walking, climbing and cycling. This is a luxury holiday home in an area of breathtaking beauty - one that you'll want to return to. |

Accommodation: Walshaw Lodge is a luxury house in the heart of Brontė Country in a peaceful country setting, just under an hour's drive from Leeds and Manchester. The Lodge accommodates up to 20 people in 11 bedrooms, making it the perfect self-catering house for large gatherings of friends, family celebrations, residential courses and workshops as well as corporate hire. The location is spectacular with glorious views over the rugged windswept moorland of the Pennines. Walshaw Lodge has been awarded a high 4 star quality award by Quality in Tourism and has been decorated to a very high standard throughout. Downstairs, the rooms branch off from the striking entrance hall: the Music Room enjoys breathtaking views and provides a peaceful place to relax, listen to music or socialise. The room is equipped with a Steinway grand piano and top quality stereo system with CD player and connection for an iPod. The Drawing Room also has stunning views across the moors on one side and over Hardcastle Crags on the other. The Drawing Room is the perfect place to enjoy a cup of Earl Grey following a country walk in the fresh air and the lovely log fire keeps it cosy on colder days. It is the perfect setting for a glass of champagne and canapés before dinner or for relaxing with the papers on a Sunday morning. The Dining Room is at the centre of the property, with a south-facing splay bay window boasting wonderful views over the valley. This is a lovely room to enjoy a relaxing breakfast, delicious lunch or candlelit supper. For business events this is an ideal boardroom space with the main table accommodating up to 20. The ground floor also has an Entertainment Room which is equipped with a large, flat screen television and DVD player, with a well-stocked library (that includes Wuthering Heights!). This room is also equipped with a Playstation 2 and a comprehensive games library. The Table Tennis Room as the name suggests, has a table tennis table and all the bats and balls you'll need for a full-blown tournament! This room also has a dart board, for moments when you want a less energetic pursuit! Children will adore the Childrens Play Room with bouncy castle, toys, games and books. Please note that it is used at the owner's own risk and that children should be supervised at all times. All the bedrooms are on the first floor of this spacious manor house - easily accessed by one of three staircases. The 5 doubles, 4 twins/doubles and two single bedrooms are all named after the moorland surroundings and are decorated to the exemplary level you would expect in a house of four star standard. There are nine bathrooms, a shower room and two additional washrooms. And upstairs also has a brightly coloured kitchen, which is well equipped and perfect for having breakfast or for a dining place for children. What's included: Bed Linen, towels, electricty. Directions: Leave Hebden Bridge with the White Lion public house on the left. Up the hill, on the A6033 Keighley Road, past terraced houses on your left. Take the second turning on the left, Midgehole Road, signposted Hardcastle Crags. When you reach Hardcastle Crags, continue up the track until a sign for 'no authorised entry'. Please drive slowly as this popular walking destination, is not paved, and has some potholes. This road is about 3 miles long. Half way along the Crags you will pass Gibson Mill on your left, continue until you emerge from the Crags onto Cow Hey Lane (not signposted), following the road as it bends left. You will come across some buildings, a farm and a cottage. Walshaw Lodge is the building on the left. Change over day is Friday. Guests are asked to vacate the property by 12.00 pm. New guests are welcome from 3.00 pm. Sorry, no pets. To enquire about this beautiful large house for rent in Yorkshire click the enquiry button below and request availability. |
