Welcome to Mission Room Cottage, a charming, detached stone cottage with a perfect blend of traditional and contemporary style situated in a picturesque dale’s village. Part of the the Bolton Estate, Wensley has an excellent pub, conveniently close to the cottage, a beautiful church, and should it be needed, a good bus link to the market town of Leyburn, less than 2 miles away.
The cottage, upside down by design, has a ground floor double bedroom with en-suite shower room, perfect for a couple. A travel cot, or child’s bed can be accommodated in the other downstairs room, although access to the bathroom is through the double bedroom. Upstairs is a stylish, open plan living area with vaulted ceilings, windows to both sides and roof lights making this a pleasant light filled space. Externally is a lovely south facing garden, perfect to enjoy a morning coffee or glass of wine at the end of your day.
Guests are welcome to bring dogs. To the front of the cottage is parking for one car.
Please note the external staircase is mainly decorative. The main entrance to the cottage is on the ground floor, with internal staircase to the first floor. Wensley is conveniently placed to explore beautiful Wensleydale, enjoying stunning panoramic views towards Pen Hill and far-reaching views across the surrounding dales. For outdoor enthusiasts, there are some superb walking and cycling trails available direct from the door, making this a perfect base from which to explore the pretty Dales villages. Bikes can be stored in the shed in the garden. Fishing is also available very nearby on the Estate, subject to purchasing the necessary day tickets and environment licences. The bustling market town of Leyburn is nearby, with its market square and quaint local shops, cafés, traditional pubs, and a weekly farmers’ market.
Stroll along the famous Leyburn Shawl, a few steps from the Market Place and accessible for walkers of all abilities and ages.
Historical castles and ruins are numerous with Bolton Castle and Middleham Castle a few miles away. From Middleham square you can sit and watch the impressive sight as the racehorses pass through on their way to the gallops. The Forbidden Corner is just down the road with its labyrinth of tunnels and underground caves to explore. From the village of Redmire, take a ride on the Wensleydale railway. The line runs for 16 miles and links the village with Leyburn and Leeming in the Vale of York and is serviced by diesel and occasionally steam engines making several return trips daily. With so much to do and see, you will certainly want to return
