Weymouth is a famous Dorset seaside resort and has been for a long time: George III holidayed here two hundred years ago. The town also boasts the best sunshine record in England. Golden sands and shallow waters make for good bathing, and the beach is often livened up by Punch and Judy shows, rides, and impressive sand sculptures. The beach is backed by the elegant Georgian facades of hotels, shops and restaurants. Brewers Quay is a maze of cobbled streets and courtyards where you'll find interesting little arts, crafts and specialist shops. There are plenty of indoor attractions for a rainy day, including the Deep Sea Adventure, the Discovery science museum and the Nothe Fort Museum of Coastal Defence.
