Yew Tree Cottage
Perfect for a cosy weekend, a family holiday, a busy sightseeing tour or a relaxing cottage in which to unwind, Yew Tree Cottage has been lovingly designed with guests in mind. Lovely furnishings, gorgeous beds, goose down duvets, (or luxury synthetics for the sneezers amongst us!), deep comfy sofas, beautiful window seats, glorious views over woods, birdsong - this 18th Century cottage is a little haven.

The village has a championship length golf course, and an Elizabethan pub within easy walking distance which has a pool table, skittles, darts, and quiz nights and which serves real ale and food. Just across the road are woods which boast a beautiful lake, and bluebells and snowdrops galore. There are open roads for easy cycling at the back of the cottage, plus off road biking close by. Ten local walks take in the beautiful Wiltshire scenery and there is a small children's play area just a 5 minute walk from cottage. The nearest small supermarket is just a 5 minute drive away, but guests are spoilt for choice for dining out with a host of gorgeous pubs, including 'gastro' and fish specialists in the surrounding villages.

Just 10 minutes from the cottage, you will find the lovely historic market town of Devizes, with its impressive architecture, weekly market and local brewery. The central square has ample parking, cafes, restaurants and tourist information and the pretty Kennet and Avon canal runs through the centre. The John Rennies impressive Caen Hill Flight – a staircase of 16 locks - is popular with visitors and said to be the most striking on any UK waterway. Lacock village, dating back to the 13th century, largely unchanged with beautiful lime washed and stone houses, wonderful old tea rooms, an old bakery, a babbling brook and several splendid pubs, is also within easy reach.

The cottage is ideally situated for touring the countryside of Wiltshire and Somerset - Bath is approximately 25 minutes away with its world famous Roman Baths and Royal Crescent. Just 20 minutes away is the historic site of Stonehenge – the orientation of the site on the rising and setting of the sun has always been one of its remarkable features. And Salisbury Cathedral spire, approx 35 mins from the Yew Tree Cottage, soars a breathtaking 123 metres (404 feet) into the sky, dominating the landscape for many miles around.

There are many activities for children too - Longleat Safari Park, with its stately home, safari and theme park combined, make it one of the best value and most popular days out in the UK. And Devizes has Coral Cove - a huge indoor play area where kids can let off steam - as well as a leisure centre, duck pond, park and swings!

If you are looking to rent a family holiday cottage in the heart of Old England, then it is hard to imagine a more perfect cottage to hire!

Accommodation:
This beautiful semi-detached cottage dates back to the 18th century and is believed to be part of the Old Court House. The large kitchen has an 8 seater table, sofa and french doors that open out onto the south facing walled garden where garden furniture and a brick barbecue make a great al-fresco dining space. The lounge has a large open fire, a grande sofa and leather fireside chair (both Laura Ashley). Upstairs, there are 2 delightful double bedrooms and 1 child's room. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated with quality beds, bedlinen and towels.

The master bedroom has a white brass bed, a quality mattress and a luxury goose down duvet and pillows. French style furnishings, window seats and lovely views over the church and woods give this room a truly peaceful feel. The second bedroom has lovely views over the garden. This delightful room has a wrought iron bed, oak furnishings, and a quality mattress with luxury non-allergen duvet and pillows.

The child's bedroom has white painted furniture, a small bed, a wardrobe and a rocking chair. There is a black-out blind, dimmer switch and child's monitor (instructions provided). There is also the option to add another child's bed by using an electronic inflatable mattress, which inflates and deflates in seconds. Curved edges make it safe for children, helping to ensure they don't fall out. This does not come with bedding.

This historic cottage is clean and uncluttered yet homely and the original features of charming beams, oak panelled doors and beautiful views are balanced with all the essential mod cons. From FreeSat TV, a DVD player and a fully-loaded iPod to complimentary SatNav and picnic hamper, the owners have done their best to ensure that guests have a pleasurable easy-going experience.

They've remembered the little people too - discreetly stored toys, including two ride-on cars, a Thomas the Tank Engine Track and Train, a couple of DVDs and a collection of soft toys are ready for their close attention! (A high-chair, buggy, booster dining seat and child monitor are also stowed away making this a great cottage for a family.)
