This enchanting, sun-kissed house in Cornwall is available to let as a holiday cottage for the first time. With impossibly beautiful 240-degree views of the sea, beach, harbour and the tiny streets of the 16th century Cornish smuggling village of Polperro, Seavue is perched high on wooded slopes, a few hundred meters from the beach and set amidst some of finest coastal scenery in Britain.
Polperro is fabulous for a walking holiday, as it's situated on the unspoilt and spectacular National Trust Coastal Path. The scenery on the 5 mile walk to the pretty fishing village of Looe or the 8 mile walk to Polruan/Fowey is breathtaking and widely regarded as some of the best on the 500-mile route. This gorgeous holiday home is a convenient base for seeing Cornwall's abundance of attractions too - it's 15 miles to the world-renowned Eden Project while the Lost Gardens of Heligan are less than an hour away. In 30 minutes, you can be on Bodmin Moor with its standing stones, and a 45 minute drive will have you sampling the menu at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Restaurant in Watergate Bay or Rick Stein's restaurants in Padstow. With so many renowned restaurants to choose from, Cornwall is a fabulous holiday destination for foodies.
However, without having to get into your car, you can enjoy the sublime scenery, charming attractions, great adventures and exquisite food in Polperro. Walk down to the village and sample the fabulous cakes made daily at House on the Props or, for a good pub at the end of a long walk, visit the Blue Peter, voted the best pub in Cornwall.
Polperro's fishermen land some of the freshest fish in Europe because their boats are normally out for only one tide. Combined with local produce, the catch of the day offers a dream palette for cooks, whether it's a lively meal for 12 or candelit dining for 2. And you'll be able to buy local and organic - the village has two excellent grocery stores, a greengrocer, a bakery and a Post Office.
In the evening you can immerse yourself in the excellent night life, live music, pubs and restaurants in the heart of the village. Or, after a day swimming, walking, fishing or sightseeing, Seavue makes a luxurious place to relax. Snuggle up by the fire, stretch out in the steam room, take a glass of wine to the terrace and, from Seavue's enchanted heights, watch the twinkling town below.

Popular amongst artists and movie stars in the 1960s, this stunning house has been completely refurbished to a standard found in some 5-star hotels. The use of natural materials of limestone marble and wide oak flooring along with unique furniture, handcrafted from local wood, gives a feeling of luxury. Seavue's beautiful private location, perched high above the town in an acre of land, makes it a perfect place for a romantic Cornish honeymoon, or a memorable holiday home for a special occasion for a large group.
The divine open plan lounge welcomes you with a modern Firebelly wood burning stove, deep sofas and dimmable lighting. The owners have thoughtfully provided wireless broadband, TV, DVD/CD player and whole house Hi-Fi where you can plug in any iPod, mobile or computer. There's a good supply of CDs, books and DVDs to enjoy, as long as you can tear yourself away from the spectacular views from all the rooms!
The accommodation has been designed to sleep 7, and offers the flexibility of sleeping up to 5 more in temporary beds. There are three double bedrooms, one single bedroom, two sprung sofa beds – one double, the other a small double – and a single pull out bed that will fit in all the bedrooms. The master bedroom has an ensuite steam room, as does the main bathroom downstairs. A third shower room is on the first floor, tiled, like all bathrooms, with limestone marble.
This Cornish seaside home is very child-friendly and the house is equipped with a splendid circular playpen, cot, retractable stair guards, and two high chairs. The garden and terrace are fenced in for toddlers, although tenacious toddlers can reach the steps to the rear garden/jungle that does not have a gate. The play pirate ship and tree house are a great hit with children. It is not without danger, so common sense and supervision is required.
Vehicle access in the tiny streets of Polperro is severely limited. You cannot drive your car to Seavue as the nearest road wide enough is 400 metres away. Instead, your luggage and food will be delivered for you on arrival and departure free of charge. Garage parking for one car (a mile’s distance from the house within the village) is included in the rental price. Additional cars can be parked in the village car park at a cost of about £20 per car per week. The footpath to the house is steep with a steady 30 metre incline. It is therefore not suitable for the disabled, infirm and walking impaired. Those willing and able to ascend are rewarded by the cleanest air, the sound of waves lapping on the shore, a car free environment and a place you need not venture from to experience exquisite, ever changing visual delights.

Washing up liquid, Dishwasher tablets and Eco balls for the laundry are provided. Access limited but your luggage and provisions will be delivered to you upon arrival. Garage parking for one car (1 mile away) included. Additional car parking available in village for around £20 per car per week. Pets, by arrangement. Smoking is not allowed inside Seavue.
Change over day is Friday. Check in time is 4pm, check out time 10am. Short breaks by arrangement. |
