Tuc-Tin is a lovely fisherman's cottage full of charm and character. It is in a quiet location in the centre of bustling Looe, a pretty and historic seaside town on the South coast of Cornwall. Located in a secluded lane and backed by an alley fringed with flowerpots, the cottage is only a short walk to the fantastic sandy beach, where the kids can build sandcastles, and you can enjoy a cup of tea in the cafe or a lounge on a deckchair! Equidistant in the other direction, is the quay, where fishing boats line up in the harbour and the streets are lined with shops and restaurants, perfect for a browse. Looe is gaining many good restaurants and cafes - if you're celebrating a special occasion, Trawlers is the place to go for delicious food. Or try Papa Ninos, where top-notch pasta and wine is served.

The cottage is so convenient for all the sights you hardly need to drive anywhere else! There are beautiful walks along the coast path - walk to Talland Bay or Polperro. From the quayside, it is possible to join a shark or mackerel fishing boat. Looe is easily reached by train, and there is a regular bus service to Plymouth for shopping - so it is perfectly possible to the have a car-free holiday.

If you do take the car, this cottage is a superb base for touring Cornwall. The pretty fishing harbour of Polperro is 10 minutes drive while the lovely seaside village Mevagissey is 40 minutes away. Fowey, on the Cornish Riviera is reachable on the Boddinick ferry in 20 minutes and Lostwithiel is also within easy reach. The Eden project, a superb place for gardeners and non-gardeners alike, is a 40 minute drive. Padstow with its interesting harbour and 17 miles of cycle paths along the Camel Estuary, is also only about an hour away, as are many of the attractions of the north Cornish coast making Looe the perfect destination for exploring the whole of Cornwall.

Accommodation:

The bright blue shutters of Tuc-Tin are where your holiday begins. The front door takes you straight into the lounge where slate tiles, typical of Cornwall, mean you don't have to worry about sandy feet! The lounge has two comfortable leather sofas with lots of sumptuous cushions to curl into. A stylish wooden slatted blind provides privacy and rich gold and blue Monkwell curtains, give the cottage a cosy feel in the winter and there is central heating with radiators throughout. There is a TV with digi-box, a DVD/CD player complete with a small selection of CDs/DVDs. You're more than welcome to bring your own favourites to keep the children quiet - or cuddle up with your own selection when the kids are in bed! Just down the road is a Chinese Takeaway if you also fancy a rest from cooking!

In the well-equipped kitchen, however, self-catering is made easy. It comes equipped with dishwasher, washing machine/dryer, microwave, hob, oven and fridge. The dining table has enough seats for the whole family, perfect for family meals, where you'll want to relive your day spent crabbing in the rockpools.

Winding stairs lead you up from the living room to the first floor where a pretty bedroom contains two 3 feet wide single beds with pocket sprung mattresses. These beds are ideal for adults or children, so the cottage is an ideal venue for a group of friends going away, as well as for a family of up to 3 children. A travel cot can be provided - this is a bit of a squeeze if both beds are full but with all that sea air, you're guaranteed a good night's sleep in any case! The room also has a TV and video player (please bring your own tapes) and the walls show lovely original artworks by the owner's father.

A modern bathroom with shower/bath is also located on the first floor. You'll be glad of a relaxing soak after a those long walks!

Another steep flight of stairs takes you to the top floor, where the master bedroom has a queen sized bed,a TV and a DVD, great for those late night movies or morning lie-ins! The final bedroom, also on the second floor, is a small single with pocket sprung mattress. Like the others, this bedroom has plenty of storage - with hanging hooks and a chest of drawers.

This is a really lovely cottage, just 200m from the sea, perfect for family and friends alike. Enjoy activities and relaxation in equal measure in one of Cornwall's most beautiful fishing villages.

A38 from Plymouth. Follow signs from Liskeard then Looe.

What's included:
Heating and electricity are included in the rental price. All bed linen is provided. Sorry, no pets are allowed in the cottage.

Change over day is Saturday and guests are asked to check out by 10am, and check in after 3pm.

Weekly rentals Ł285 (low season) to Ł720 (high season). Weekend and short breaks available October - May on request. Short breaks of 2 nights are 50% of weekly rate, 3 nights, 60% and 4 nights, 70%.
