North Cornwall is famous for its high cliffs, glorious sandy beaches and picturesque fishing harbours and is a perfect place to enjoy walking, bird watching, cycling, golfing, fishing, surfing or simply exploring the area. The famous seaside villages of Boscastle, Tintagel, Port Isaac, Polzeath, Rock and Padstow are all within easy reach of this lovely holiday cottage. Some of the places worth seeing are the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and several National Trust Properties including Tintagel Post Office and Lanhydrock House.

Delabole is working village and is famous for its slate quarry which has been working since the 17th century. The beautiful sandy Trebarwith Strand is only just over a mile away with the spectacular Tregardock Beach only a little further. If you are willing to drive there are a several seaside villages and beaches to choose from and even an indoor swimming pool at Camelford if the weather is not ideal for swimming in the surf.

For those wishing to walk there is the Coast Path which follows the Cornish coast for 258 miles. There are several circular walks near to Ruby Cottage and maps, guides and instructions are all available. Cornwall is also a paradise for surfers and there are opportunities for everyone from beginners to experts. There is also the chance to visit the local Camel Valley Vineyards and sample some genuine Cornish wine. Only 20 minutes drive away it is possible to have a tour of the vineyard or just visit to the shop and buy some award winning wine.

During the summer it is possible to take a trip on a steam locomotive on Cornwall’s only standard gauge railway still operated by steam engines. The Bodmin and Wenford Railway is run by enthusiastic volunteers and not only can you enjoy the train ride but also the beautifully restored station buildings and refreshment room. Accommodation: Part of this cosy, character cottage dates back to the 18th century and has low beamed ceilings. The double bedroom is part of the original cottage and is accessed via a staircase from the living room. Everything else is on the ground floor where a single bedroom leads to a twin room. A pretty, private garden provides an outdoor area to relax. This gorgeous self-catering Cornish cottage is extremely well equipped and provides a comfortable 'home from home' from which to explore the area. Directions: Turn off M5 at Exeter onto A30, turn off onto A395 towards Wadebridge, then A39 towards Camelford, finally turn right onto B3314 which takes you into Delabole. What's included: Heating, electricity and logs for the fire are all included in the rental price. All bed linen and towels are provided. Dogs are welcome by arrangement and there is no charge. Change over day is Saturday, out by 11am, in after 3pm. Weekend and short breaks are available out of season. Discounts available if booking within one month of the holiday.
