As you approach Merrybank through the well maintained garden, you immediately notice the array of beautiful plants and shrubs which give privacy to the lodge. With table and chair seating as well as bench seating, the outside area is a great place to sit back and unwind, taking in the nature around you. Upon entering the lodge, you find an open plan layout. The living area is bright and airy and looks out over the lovely garden through floor to ceiling glass panels. Towards the back of the lodge is the kitchen/dining area, equipped with all you could need to rustle up that early morning breakfast or lunch before heading out for the day.
The bedroom area is also located towards the back of the lodge. The bathroom is accessed via a separate door and benefits from a bath and a shower attachment, perfect for a nice long soak to relax after a long day exploring.
Merrybank is situated in the heart of Stoke Gabriel, where the village shop/post office and nearby cafés/restaurants are just around the corner. The quay is the perfect place for children to go crabbing, and there are beautiful walks along the riverbank or through the old apple orchard and winding streets of the village.
This beautiful village retains its historic roots from the 800 year old yew tree in the churchyard to its gentle tangle of cottages leading down to the river where locals have fished for Dart Salmon for centuries. Whether it’s to spend time in the village or explore the many nearby areas of the wonderful South Hams, Merrybank is a great place to start.
