The Royal Forest of Dean is the starting point for a vast array of outdoor pursuits, from the leisurely attractions of fishing and birdwatching to the energetic pursuits of mountain biking and abseiling. The cottage itself combines the rustic charm of its heritage whilst providing all the modern conveniences with a firmly eco-friendly perspective. From the cottage door it is just a short walk to the wildlife conservation area, Linear Park, and the refurbished Edwardian Palace Cinema. Cinderford is a historic market town and is rich in locations that reveal the region’s past, from the prehistoric to the present, including the Dean Heritage Museum, Littledean Jail and the ancient iron mines in the Clearwell Caves. Many visitors may experience a sense of déja vu when they wander along the paths in magical Puzzlewood. It is often used in filming on location for series such as Dr Who and Merlin and is believed to be the inspiration for Tolkien’s mythical land, Middle Earth in The Lord of the Rings.
