The Cotswolds is famed for its beauty with a variety of the prettiest villages and small towns built from honey coloured stone.

Northleach is a small town near the centre of the Cotswolds, 10 miles from the Roman town of Cirencester and 11 miles from Cheltenham. It is on the old route from Oxford to Gloucester and prospered in the late Middle Ages because it was a strategic centre for the wool trade.

This prosperity helps account for the large and impressive church of SS Peter and Paul which dominates the landscape of a town with a population of less than 2,000.

Just a short walk away is the award-winning The Wheatsheaf Inn where the menus are all about great quality, locally sourced, simple rustic food. A little further along is The Ox House wine bar if you appreciate excellent wine, ‘paysan’ style food and delicious coffee.

Opposite, The Sherborne Arms offers an authentic village pub atmosphere. Alongside, the Black Cat cafe offers a range of daytime refreshments and a welcome for breakfast and lunch.

Also in the centre is a mini-supermarket, a chemist, post office, butcher, bakery and a takeaway food outlet

Accommodation:

Our detached cottage was formerly the town’s telephone exchange and we have retained a few hints to its part in Northleach’s proud history. It has been renovated and extended, undergoing a big transformation in 2016 to make it a contemporary and superior holiday home from home.

We sleep up to four adults. The upstairs double bedroom has a king size bed and TV, with a large ensuite bathroom. The ground floor bedroom can be configured as a twin-bedded room or a super-King sized double and has an ensuite shower room.

Downstairs we have an open-plan style sitting room with fully equipped kitchen and comfortable dining room areas. There is also a separate downstairs WC.
