In the Welsh Marches, down winding lanes, a delightful refurbished hop pickers' house – a romantic bolthole for two. It’s what we call ‘lustic’ – rustic and full of character, but in a luxurious kind of way. A perfect spot to relax and get away from it all - or explore some of the prettiest towns and countryside across Shropshire and Worcestershire.

Hop Pickers’ House is situated in a quiet rural location, adjacent to Brook Farm, an Elizabethan farmhouse, and surrounded by nine acres of gardens, meadow and woodland. This provides a sense of seclusion and tranquillity, as well as a perfect opportunity for a stroll before dinner or a walk with the dog. There’s a barbecue spot at the top of the field, perfectly positioned to get the last of the evening sun.

A great place for a glass of wine or a famous local Ludlow sausage or two!

We’re in a wonderful location – right in the Teme Valley, where three of the most picturesque counties, Worcestershire, Shropshire and Herefordshire, meet.
We’re just a couple of miles from the riverside town of Tenbury Wells, known as “the town in the orchard”, an ideal point for picking up the local cider route (or just going for a pint in one of the cosy local pubs). And we’re just a ‘stone’s throw’ (or 15 minutes’ drive to be more precise…) from historic Ludlow, with its famous restaurants, markets and festivals. In September, the whole town celebrates the best of local produce at the Ludlow Food Festival.

And there’s Ludlow Castle, one of the first stone castles to be built in England, and nearby Stokesay Court, which played a starring role in the film ‘Atonement’.

There are walks from the door – and further afield, some of the country’s prettiest towns, gardens and countryside to explore. To the south, Leominster and Bromyard have a vast array of antique shops. The National Trust has several properties and spectacular gardens in the area, including Berrington Hall, Brockhampton Estate and the walled garden at Croft Castle. The Long Mynd and Church Stretton are also close by, offering great walks and truly amazing views.

Accommodation

Hop Pickers’ House has a spacious open plan layout – relax in rocking chairs beside the wood-burning stove, enjoy breakfast at the farmhouse table, check your e-mails while watching the geese waddling across the lawn, settle down on a cosy sofa with a cup of tea or cuddle up in a really cosy king-size four poster bed, listening to the barn owls.

Ground floor: Open plan kitchen (with dishwasher), dining and living area, cosy corner with wood-burning stove and rocking chairs, TV (Freesat) / DVD. Outside seating / dining.

First floor: Bedroom with king-size four poster bed and sofa area. Bathroom with WC, a free-standing bath and separate walk-in shower.
Exposed beams, brickwork and wooden floors ooze character, as well as style and charm.

We’ll welcome you with some delicious local fare – and tasty supplies for your first breakfast! Linen and towels are also provided, as well as a few essential toiletries.
