Wellwood Lodge is a lovely large Victorian house in the historic spa town of Buxton in Derbyshire. This spacious house is ideally situated for experiencing the varied landscape of the Peak District National Park, where rugged moors and pretty dales offer an abundance of activities from walking, cycling, climbing, caving and fishing. If you're after a cultural break, the house is convenient to the town's famous sights - Buxton boasts lovely parks and gardens, a wonderful theatre, a stunning opera house, shopping arcades and ancient buildings, pubs and restaurants. The house is only a mile from Buxton Country Park, where the high wire theme park Go Ape provides pulse-raising fun and where the underworld of Poole's Cavern display a stunning show of stalactites and crystal formations.
Stay at Wellwood Lodge and you will be able to explore beautiful countryside by walking from your door - a scenic reservoir and woodland are just around the corner, while for a longer hike, you can access heather moorland by traversing the many pictureesque footpaths. The bustling market towns of Bakewell and Ashbourne are a short, scenic drive away as are many National Trust properties including Chatsworth, the seat of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, and Haddon Hall, a fine example of Elizabethan architecture.

Accommodation:
Wellwood lodge is a handsome detached family home over 3 floors, situated in terrace style gardens in an attractive residential area of Buxton.
On the ground floor a very spacious living area is fitted with coal effect gas fire, satellite TV, DVD and CD players. A new leather lounge and occasional tables and lamps provide a homely and cosy atmosphere and a lovely place to relax at the end of a day of activities and sightseeing in Derbyshire.
The spacious dining room has a roomy table with seating for 12 people, it is well appointed with tasteful white contemporary crockery and Oneida stainless cutlery. The kitchen, refitted in 2009, has ample work surfaces and storage, an electric Neff oven, grill and microwave, a 6 burner gas hob - range style, complete with two electric ovens with grills. There is a fridge/freezer, dishwasher and all the utensils you will need to make light work of your self-catering holiday for the whole family. Leading out of the kitchen is an attractive newly refurbished Victorian style conservatory with sitting area where smoking is permitted.
This large and bright holiday home offers spacious and comfortable accommodation, sleeping 12 in 6 bedrooms. Most of the bedrooms are equipped with fitted furniture and one has an ensuite shower facilty. The house has ample hot water and a really efficient heating system keep the place cosy - just the thing after a day on the Peaks, when you want to relax, enjoy a homecooked meal, and talk about the day's events over a glass of wine.
Outside is a lovely terraced style garden with raised patio on the roof of the garage - a lovely spot that catches the evening sun and where there is a fantastic view of the Dome and Georgian Crescent, Grin Low, and, in the distance, views of Solomon's Temple Folly.
This pet-friendly house is a wonderful place to stay for a large family celebration or reunion, or a group of friends on a holiday full of activity and culture.

Fresh linen and included in the price is the first £35 for electricity and gas at suppliers price for short breaks, £60 for weekly stays, this suffices most bookings.
Up to 2 well behaved dogs. Smoking is restricted to the conservatory at Wellwood Lodge. Off street parking available.
