This lovely one bedroomed cottage is one of two self-catering holiday homes situated on a former working farm. Mill View Cottage is surrounded by beautiful Essex countryside with Thaxted Church and windmill visible on the horizon. The cottage is a few minutes walk from buses, pubs, restaurant and shops and makes an ideal base for visiting surrounding Essex villages as well as Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
Thaxted is a small settlement, dating back to Saxon times - home of a splendid church dating from the 1300s, and timbered Guildhall and an historic Windmill, that now contains a small museum. Each year hundreds of Morris Dancers congregate on the town to celebrate and entertain in the ancient May Day tradition. No visit is complete without sampling the famous Thaxted sausage. The local butcher and well-stocked stores will provide everything you need for the perfect English self-catering holiday.
There is an abundance of places to visit a short distance from this wonderful cottage - the House on the Hill Museum, Linton Zoo, Mole Wildlife Park and Audley End House and Gardens are a short drive away. Historic Cambridge with its beautiful setting on the River Cam provides a superb choice of shops, pubs, restaurants and theatre - as well as punting on the river. For a taste of the English seaside, Southend-on-Sea, where you can try fish and chips on the world's longest pleasure pier, is easily reached from this centrally located cottage. Three golf courses are nearby at Bishop's Stortford, Elsenham and Saffron Walden. And the house is just 7 miles from Stansted Airport and buses that transport you to the train station where it is just 45 minutes into London.

Mill View is a lovely timber-clad cottage in a former farm building that has been refurbished to provide high standard accommodation for 4 guests. The lounge-diner of this cosy cottage is comfortably furnished with leather sofas, a TV, DVD and music centre. French doors lead to the west-facing patio where guests can enjoy gorgeous sunsets that light up the meadow. The kitchen is well equipped for a family self-catering holiday with gas hob/electric fan oven, fridge, freezer, washing machine and a microwave. The sleeping accommodation is a spacious family bedroom with a double at one end and full sized bunk beds at the other, making this a great cottage for a young family.
The cottages stand on the brow of a hill at the south end of Thaxted, nestling in lovely Essex countryside with beautiful views of the landscape. If the heat of the patio is too much, there is shade and extra seating in the little orchard, perfect for relaxing, reading and enjoying a glass of wine while you enjoy the views of the Windmill and Church stretching into distance.
